Bebelușii expuși la câini au șanse reduse să dezvolte astm

Un studiu canadian realizat pe 1.050 de copii arată că cei care trăiesc în preajma câinilor au cu 48% mai puține riscuri să facă astm. Cercetătorii au monitorizat praful din case la vârsta de 3-4 luni și au evaluat sănătatea pulmonară a copiilor la 5 ani.

Surprinzător, alergenii de câine par să aibă un efect protector, spre deosebire de cei de pisică care nu influențează riscul de astm. Mai mult, bebelușii expuși la câini au și o funcție pulmonară superioară, în special cei cu predispoziție genetică la probleme respiratorii.

Dr. Jacob McCoy recunoaște că nu este clar motivul acestor efecte, dar suspectează că expunerea timpurie la alergenii canini poate modifica microbiomul nazal sau sistemul imunitar, prevenind astfel sensibilizarea. Potrivit ziarulprahova.ro, această descoperire vine ca o veste bună pentru familiile cu câini.

Cercetătorii, care vor prezenta studiul la Congresul Societății Europene de Pneumologie din Amsterdam, subliniază că alergenii din locuințe sunt factori de risc pentru astm și pot fi modificați pentru a reduce boala.
