Henagliflozin, medicament pentru diabet, ar putea încetini procesul de îmbătrânire

Henagliflozin, un medicament folosit în mod uzual pentru tratarea diabetului zaharat de tip 2, ar putea avea și efecte anti-îmbătrânire, conform unui studiu recent din China. Acest inhibitor al co-transportorului 2 de sodiu-glucoză (SGLT2i) ar putea deschide noi căi terapeutice.

Cercetarea indică faptul că henagliflozin poate susține prelungirea telomerilor, markeri biologici importanți ai procesului de îmbătrânire, și poate ameliora funcțiile metabolice. Aceste rezultate sugerează potențialul unei folosiri extinse a medicamentului dincolo de diabet.

Conform datelor publicate de ziarulprahova.ro, aceste concluzii ar putea influența viitorul tratamentelor combinate, vizând nu doar diabetul, ci și procesul de îmbătrânire celulară. Studiul oferă o perspectivă promițătoare asupra sănătății pe termen lung.

Autorii studiului evidențiază că aceste descoperiri pot redefine modul în care sunt abordate afecțiunile metabolice și îmbătrânirea, prin utilizarea unor medicamente deja aprobate, ceea ce ar putea accelera aplicarea lor clinică.
